Dear BW IT Team Members,

Hidehiko Suizu, Senior IT Manager at BW Converting (and previously with Baldwin Technology Company), will retire on September 24 after 11 years with Barry-Wehmiller. Hidehiko, who is based in Tokyo, is a valued colleague, and it has been the honor of many of our IT team members to have worked directly with him over the years.

Hidehiko’s early career was with a medical equipment and pharmaceutical company, where he worked as a system engineer on the mainframe computer operating system, and later as an ERP business system engineer for the Asia-Pacific region.

After 26 years with pharmaceutical companies, Hidehiko joined Baldwin Japan (now part of BW Converting) in 2014. His first role was serving on Baldwin’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP implementation project.

After that project, he led the development of several business applications and was promoted to the IT manager position, the role he still holds today. Hidehiko was a critical member of the Baldwin IT team and was responsible for all of Baldwin’s several Japan and China offices.

Throughout his tenure with BW, Hidehiko’s giving spirit made the job fun for those who worked with him. Scott Beaton, Enterprise WAN/LAN Admin, and Pete Bremer, Enterprise Information Security Architect, traveled to Japan in 2023 to work with Hidehiko to perform upgrades to the IT infrastructure that supported BW’s Japan and China locations.

Scott was grateful for Hidehiko’s friendship and teamwork, and said, “His compassion for team members shows what a true professional he is. While he will be missed, he should be immensely proud of his accomplishments during his time with Baldwin and his efforts in the wider BW family.”

Pete, who has worked with Hidehiko for many years, said, “Hidehiko san will be missed by the Baldwin team and by many members of the BW IT team who had the pleasure of working with him.”

Roftiel Constantine, who worked alongside Hidehiko for three years while at Baldwin (2015-2018), remembers Hidehiko as a very talented one-man IT networking, server operations, and service desk team supporting the 90 Baldwin team members at 4 locations in Japan, as well as additional team members in Hong Kong and Shanghai. “Due to the time zone and the language barrier challenges, Hidehiko san had to provide a much broader scope of support to his Japanese teammates than is normal in BW IT. It was a tough role, and Hidehiko san always delivered. We knew we were very fortunate to have him on the team!” said Roftiel.

Hidehiko has many good memories of his career with BW, and particularly Baldwin Technology. Foremost, he is proud of the relationships and friendships he has forged over the years. He said he is fond of everyone who helped him any time he faced a challenging project and is grateful for the BW IT team.

In retirement, Hidehiko plans to enjoy his unscheduled free time, with no alarms or meetings.

Today, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Hidehiko as he begins his retirement. Please join us in recognizing and thanking him for his remarkable contributions here at Barry-Wehmiller.

Sincerely,

Frank Lanuto
