Important Email Change: Check Graymail and Junk Mail Folders Often

With this week’s move from Proofpoint email security to Abnormal Security, you now have two new folders to check regularly: Graymail and Junk Email, which appear as regular folders in your list of Outlook folders. You need to check both of these folders regularly so that you don’t miss an email that might have been miscategorized.

• Graymail: Bulk emails that you’ve subscribed to or previously interacted with but may not always want directly in your inbox, such as
  • Newsletters
  • Promotions
  • Marketing/sales emails
  • Social media notifications 
• Junk Email:
  • Messages that are obvious spam or unwanted bulk mail. 
  • There is a 30-day retention policy set for the Junk folder; this means emails will be deleted from that folder after 30 days. 

Consider moving the Junk Email and Graymail folders to the top of your Outlook folder list so you can quickly check them regularly. You can also consider moving them into your Favorites, as shown here. 

Another new feature of Abnormal Security: 

Now when you need to report a suspicious email, remember to use the Microsoft Report button, as described in the box shown on the right.

• Once you report a suspicious email using "Report Phishing," you will soon receive an email from BW Information Security. This email will include an assessment of the email you reported. The assessment will be made using generative AI.
• You can reply directly to the email with any follow-up questions.
