With Over 10,000 PCs Upgraded, BW IT Service Desk Nears Completion of Windows 11 Upgrade Project

Windows 10 reaches its end of life October 14, 2025, after which Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, bug fixes or technical support for Windows 10. That means PCs running Windows 10 will be unsupported and may become vulnerable to security threats, compliance risks and an increased risk of cyberattacks.

IMPORTANT: If you don’t know for sure, check now that your PCs have been upgraded (both work and home).

  • For BW PCs on Windows 10, internet and network access will be unavailable after October 14.
  • For home/personal PCs on Windows 10, vulnerabilities to scams, fraud and hacking will increase significantly after October 14.

We are thrilled to announce that we will soon wrap up our Windows 11 rollout across all of BW. The BW IT team has worked tirelessly to upgrade the operating systems of company PCs to Windows 11. In fact, the Global IT Service Desk has upgraded more than 10,100 PCs to Windows 11 during the past 11 months alone, ensuring continued Microsoft support for our company. This upgrade project represents a significant step in our commitment to providing BW with technology and tools that enhance our productivity and security.

While the overwhelming majority of BW-managed PCs have been upgraded, our records indicate that several BW PCs continue to operate on Windows 10. Due to security concerns, BW will restrict internet and network access for all Windows 10 PCs starting October 15, 2025.

  • Please check your Windows version today. Here’s how:
    • Press the Windows key + R.
      • Once a Run dialog box appears, type “winver” and press Enter; a box will appear that identifies your version of Windows.
    • Alternatively, you can find this information in Settings by going to Start > Settings > System > About.
      • Once there, scroll down to the section titled “Windows specifications,” and your Windows version will be identified there.
  • If your BW PC is running Windows 10, please contact the BW IT Service Desk as soon as possible.
  • For any questions or concerns regarding the upgrade to Windows 11, please reach out to your IT leader.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If you have a home computer running Windows 10, you should upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible or replace the computer. Vulnerabilities to scams, fraud and hacking will increase significantly for Windows 10 computers after October 14.

Thank you to everyone across Barry-Wehmiller for helping us get this over the finish line! Your cooperation and willingness to pitch in has made all the difference.
