BW INNOVATION UPDATE

"We couldn't talk about innovation five years ago with the confidence that we can today." - Kyle Chapman, BW President

With those words, President Kyle Chapman recently kicked off BW Innovation Event 2025, aptly titled “Better By Design,” held to showcase the wide variety of innovation underway across the BW organization. Kyle spoke of the “incredible talent in the

organization that is bringing fresh ideas, vibrant designs and thoughts around technology and processes that are going to unlock and enable the next wave of BW’s growth.”

He shared that over the last five years, BW’s annual R&D investment has grown 53% from the previous five-year average. In FY25, innovation projects were projected to generate $141M in revenue from products not in our portfolio three to five years ago. Today, there is broader adoption of innovation playbooks, cross-team synergies and scalable frameworks for new product and service launches. “We now have a tangible engine that innovation is alive and well and will be a major part of our future going forward,” Kyle said.

The Innovation Event 2025 sessions that were voted “most impactful” are:

Leveraging IoT and AI to Transform Customer Service: Amber Stollfus and Mark Kralovec

Additive Manufacturing: Tim Schniepp, Parker Will, John Bessey, Andreas Schilling, Christian Berger and Peter Klaassen

Modular and Configurable Design: Scott Baker and Lynn Vershum

Design for Excellence: Karl Marschke, Joerg Vonderheiden, Richard Cranston and Mike Burns

Cybersecurity of Barry-Wehmiller Industrial Equipment: Pete Bremer

Over the next several months, oneBW will offer overviews of these sessions. To read about Leveraging IoT and AI to Transform Customer Service, click HERE.

Kyle left participants and BW team members with these thoughts about innovation, “Lean in, engage, connect with other communities and other teams across the organization and incorporate the learnings back into your business. Keep pushing and being creative. Have that entrepreneurial mindset that makes innovation flourish. You are driving the future.”
