BARRY-WEHMILLER & PLATFORM NEWS

Every Voice Matters Pulse Check-In shows some Continuous Improvement progress—with much more to come through OpEx 2.0 activities

Since team members shared feedback in the 2023 Every Voice Matters Cultural Assessment, BW and Platform leaders have focused on a variety of initiatives to transform our vibrant culture where we can both care for our team members and perform with excellence.

To understand if our actions drove the intended impact, we recently deployed the EVM Pulse Check-In to participating Platforms to hear more from our team members and gauge progress in areas where we’ve made intentional investments.

One critical area of focus was Continuous Improvement, which was chosen to better understand if our enterprise-wide focus on Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement have helped to alleviate the pain points expressed during the 2023 EVM Assessment.

Almost 3200 team members shared EVM Pulse feedback that conveyed:

• Continued Opportunities:

    • Workflows are still not well designed in their areas

    • They still struggle to get the information they need from other departments.

    • They don’t have a way to remove frustrations like these from their work.

• Progress and Improvements:

    • Their direct leaders encourage process improvement.

    • They feel they have opportunities to try new ideas to improve performance.

Doug Neal, VP of Continuous Improvement, commented about OpEx 2.0 progress: "We clearly see our team members identifying areas of required focus, all of which are squarely in the wheelhouse for OpEx 2.0 methods. Designing workflows that provide all required materials and information in every area--from order entry to procurement, engineering and assembly and testing--will be a focus for our ongoing OpEx core teams and for every Rapid Improvement Event (RIE) that is executed."

"We need to move the needle such that 20-25% more of our respondents see progress and improvements to their workflows that deliver the proper information without frustration. By engaging team members in designing their workflows using our OpEx roadmap and engaging in focused RIEs, I am confident we can reduce those percentages.”
