You are receiving this email because our records show that your BW-issued device has not yet been migrated to Windows 11. Further down in this email, you will find the steps we need you to take right away so that your machine can be upgraded between now and July 24. 

Note that due to the large number of machines our IT team has been migrating on a weekly basis, and because more machines are upgraded every day, our records could be behind, and you might already be on Windows 11. 

 

To check whether you are already on Windows 11, please do the following: 

  • Navigate to Settings > System > About (You will probably have to scroll down to see "About.")
  • Once on the "About" page, scroll down until you see "Windows specifications," and that's where you'll find the edition and version of Windows installed on your device. 

If you are already on Windows 11, no further action is required. 

 

If you are not yet on Windows 11, then as soon as you are able: 

  • Leave your computer on and logged out; 
  • And if you work at a BW office, then leave it at the office overnight (if possible).

PRIOR TO MIGRATING:

  • Screenshot your pinned applications: If you’ve customized your start menu by pinning your most used applications, note that Microsoft has not yet provided a way to migrate those pinned applications. Please take a screenshot, as shown here, so that you can re-pin your applications to help you easily find them once you’re up and running on Windows 11.  
  • On the day you choose to leave your computer on and in the office, please reboot your computer.

AFTER YOUR MACHINE IS UPGRADED:

  • Once you’ve logged in after the upgrade, you might get a pop-up screen from Windows that looks similar to this one. It is asking if you want to connect to BW Enterprise Wireless. If you see this pop-up, click on it to log in. 
  • Do not be concerned if you don't get this notification.  
  • After you've received the Windows 11 upgrade to your computer, if you experience any issues, please report them to the IT Service Desk.
